"On Empathy and Mindfulness"

August 29th, 2019  | Mindfulness

Empathy is defined as “the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.” Mindfulness is defined as “the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something.”

With that said, take a moment to reflect on your life. Do you feel that you empathize with the feelings of others? Do you feel that you are mindful in the way you lead your life?

Now that you’ve done that, let’s think in terms of the environment. We must start empathizing with future generations that will live on this planet. What will their quality of life be? Will their oceans be as beautiful as ours today? Will their rainforests be as lush as they are today? With the air they breeze feel as fresh and invigorating as it is today? According to many researchers, the answer to those questions is “no.” If we continue on the path we’re on, we will eventually destroy our oceans, our rainforests, and immensely harm air quality.

What can we do about that, you ask?

That’s where mindfulness comes in. We must educate ourselves about the fashion industry, the cattle industry, the oil industry, and anything else that we consume the products of. After we learn, we must change the way we shop. In terms of fashion, we know that the most important shift is the introduction of sustainable materials. This is why we decided to create an eco-friendly product that utilizes upcycled leather. That means that the materials we use don’t cause further damage to the environment, doesn’t add waste into our landfills, and doesn’t increase the amount of greenhouse gasses emitted into the air we breathe. Instead, we are saving materials that could end up in landfills and, instead, using them to create something beautiful, long-lasting, and timeless.

We know… that’s a lot to digest. But don’t fret! We have a solution to make empathy and mindfulness a little easier to achieve. Our Rose Quartz Mindstone is considered to be the “stone of unconditional love.” It fosters acceptance, empathy, and reconciliation. We recommend meditating with it to strengthen its energy but even having it propped on your nightstand as decor can also do the trick.
